At Primrose House, we believe in the power of memories and the joy of reliving cherished moments. For Resident Maurice Lythgoe, a former swimming instructor, the water has always been a place of happiness and purpose.
After speaking with Maurice and his family, we knew how much it would mean to him to take to the water once again. With the support of our Wellbeing team and Home Manager Dawn Sadler, arrangements were made with the local swimming baths for a special session.
On the day, Maurice was joined by Rose Neyland Wellbeing Coordinator and Home Manager Dawn, who were there to support him every step of the way. As he entered the water, a familiar sense of comfort and joy washed over him, bringing back fond memories of his time as an instructor.
“At Primrose House, we feel it is important to help bring back memories for our dementia residents,” said Dawn, Home Manager at Primrose House. “Maurice often talks about his days as a swimming instructor, and we wanted to give him the opportunity to reconnect with something he once loved. Seeing his happiness in the water was truly heartwarming.”
This special experience is just one example of how we strive to make meaningful moments for our residents, ensuring that their past passions continue to bring them joy in the present.
