One of the Residents living in Ghyll Grove care home is delighted with her new gift, ‘Maisie the Doll’.
Each month there is a budget dedicated to Resident wellbeing activities and the activities team organised to try a doll for one Resident, Sheila, who lives at the home. Dolls have been proven to help in certain circumstances whereby they provide a source of comfort, especially when Residents have the trait of liking to look after someone else.
One Ghyll Grove carer commented, “When the doll arrived I went over to Thames house with the doll and gave it to the resident she really liked it and said she would share it with other residents if they would like to hold her she named the doll ‘Maisie’”.
After this happened, some of the other Residents said that they would like a doll to look after also, so we ordered more dolls for these Residents as well. All were really pleased and enjoyed unwrapping their dolls.
