Moss view care home, in Liverpool, had a fabulous Mexican theme day today hosted by Colleagues for Residents.
The day started with a Mexican quiz, followed by some Mexican food tasting which was scrumptious; consisting of enchiladas, tortillas with guacamole dips and salsa, as well as some Mexican spiced chicken. Residents also enjoyed some Tequila tasting sessions; they all loved the experience of the salt, tequila then a suck on a lemon.
Nurse, Jan, was enjoying the moment with her fabulous dance moves doing the Macarena and the Residents loved listening to the sounds of the Mexican music and enjoyed learning the dance.
One of the most fun parts of the day was trying to get the sweets out of the PiƱata. One of the Colleagues remarked, “Some very good swings going on… they could have played for the Red Sox!”
Colleagues said it was lovely to see the Residents laughing and having a good time, they loved wearing the moustaches, dressing up, food tasting and the Tequila experience. Some comments from the day are as follows:
“What a lovely afternoon we have had.”
“The food was lovely, I don’t normally enjoy food that’s got spices in it”
“Wait till I tell my daughters I’ve been on the Tequila.”
“I don’t normally drink. But can I have another one?”
Home Manager, Bethann Sandall, said there was a fantastic atmosphere, “The highlight was definitely the Macarena. A great day was had by all Residents and we are looking forward to our next theme day.”
