Love was in the air for Residents at Eden HouseProfessional invitations were sent out to husband and wives Residents at Eden House to invite them to enjoy a candlelit dinner with their loved one.

There were six couples in total who went to a great deal of effort dressing up in their best suits and dresses. The men brought roses and cards with S.W.A.L.K written on the back.

There was a two course meal of chicken breast in a creamy white wine and bacon sauce followed by lemon posset with heart shaped shortbread. Couples also enjoyed chilled Prosecco and heart shaped chocolates.

Homemade gifts were made for couples to exchange, humbug in a glass jar for the gents and hand cream with chocolates for the ladies along with a Valentine’s poem.

The lounge was decorated with balloons and candles, each couple had their own individual table and 50’s love songs played in the background.

The couples were absolutely delighted at the opportunity to have this experience with their loved ones and there were tears in the eyes of all involved at the effort.

One gentleman, Alan Hetherington, stood up and gave a thank you speech at the end to express how grateful he was to have the opportunity to romance his wife again.

Relative Norma Jewitt lost her husband suddenly just before Christmas last year, so the staff at Eden House invited her to spend Valentine’s dinner with her Dad, John Richardson, who she visits regularly. She was completely overwhelmed and had an evening to remember with her Dad.

A Resident commented:
“I never thought I would get the opportunity to do this again with my wife. We should do this every month!”

Sharon Sperring, Home Manager, commented:
“It was amazing to see everyone so happy, this is by far one of the loveliest things we have ever done for our Residents”.
