Colleagues made a special effort to celebrate Burns Night this year for a Scottish Resident at HC-One’s Bakers Court care home in Manor Park, Greater London.
Margaret was born and raised in Edinburgh and treasures Burns Night as a special day for her and her family.
Colleagues put in a lot of work to decorate Margaret’s bedroom with bunting, flags, flowers and even a new tartan blanket.
She enjoyed an afternoon of listening to bagpipes, watching clips of the Highland fling and was read poetry written by Robert Burns himself before settling down for a traditional Burns supper.
Although Margaret cannot communicate verbally, she celebrated with big grins, thumbs up and plenty of laughter, all while donning a Scottish bonnet and wig.
A Housekeeper at Bakers Court commented: “It’s lovely to see Margaret laugh so much!”
