Local MP Visits St Margarets Care Home
Last summer, Residents at St Margaret’s Care Home were informed by Crossgate Residents Association of a proposed redevelopment to student accommodation behind the Home.

Miss Ellen Henderson, a retired schoolteacher and resident at St Margaret’s since 2005, wished to share her opinion and involve herself more in the decision making in the community.

Dr Roberta Blackman–Woods, Woods, Shadow Local Government Minister and Member of Parliament for the City of Durham, attended a special surgery at St Margaret’s today, to discuss our Residents comments, with tea and cake of course.

With around twenty people in attendance,  Dr Blackman-Woods listened to residents comments and ideas, and looked at the Consultation Boards provided by Scott Hobbs Planning.

She will look into all matters discussed and will write to Miss Henderson, who will share the letter with fellow Residents.

Miss Ellen Henderson, said:
“ That was fantastic, she cares and took time, despite how little time she has, to come and hear our concerns”

Home Manager, Sandra Darroch said:
“I value the relationship with Dr Blackman–Woods, we love her visits to St Margaret’. She really cares about Durham and the people who live here”
