Local Care Home staff present series of themed events to Residents – Nigeria Day in JuneStaff at HC-One Elmwood Care Home in Croydon have been presenting to their Residents a series of themed days each month based on countries from around the world. May was Philippians day and in June Nigeria was celebrated with some of the staff advising on dress, food and entertainment.

Residents and their families, had the opportunity to experience the culture of Nigeria with many of the staff dressing in traditional costume and a number of dishes from the African country were prepared for the Residents to try. Some of the staff also demonstrated several dances popular in their culture to music associated with Nigeria.

Joselo Silva, the Home Manager commented “we have a very diverse community here at Elmwood Care Home both with Residents and staff so we are very keen to celebrate and recognise this by holding themed days for the Residents. It is wonderful seeing the resident community and family members enjoying themselves with the food, music and colourful costumes. We are already very much looking forward to our next event which will an Indian theme”
