Local care home Residents reminisce about the war years on visit to Swansea Bay museumResidents at HC-One Cwrt Clwydi Gwyn Care Home in Skewen recently had the opportunity to visit Swansea Bay War Museum creating a wonderful opportunity to reminisce about times gone by.

With the assistance of the staff Residents had the chance to dress up in the authentic uniforms made available to them and take photographs.

Pictured are three gentleman Donald Evans, Glasfryn George and Idris Davies (left to right) from Cwrt Clwydi Gwyn Care Home sharing their experiences and memories of their time in the armed services with staff at the museum. Glasfryn went on to serve in the Home Guard and was stationed at Llandrindod Wells during the Second World War. He was a machine gunner and had vivid memories of being sent around south Wales with his shooting partner.

Lianne Hargreaves, the Home Manager commented “it was very interesting hearing some of the stories our Residents had about their past and in particular the difficulties they faced during the War but quite humbling as to how humorous some of their reflections were”.
