Local artist opens exciting exhibition as Grimsby care home celebrates Care Home Open DayClarendon Hall care home in Grimsby was delighted to welcome local artist Anita Mackey to unveil its new exhibition as part of the seventh annual Care Home Open Day.

The nation-wide event gives local people the opportunity to learn more about the care services at the heart of their community. It focusses on bringing those who live locally into care homes to break down misconceptions, showcase what life is really like in a care home, and to highlight the skills and dedication of local people working as carers.

This year’s theme was ‘Celebrating Art in Care’, with HC-One launching a national art competition for Residents and visitors to the home. Participants could create anything from paintings, drawings, knitting, poetry, calligraphy, pottery and more.

Residents were joined by their loved ones for the revelation of the art exhibition, which showcased some of their finest creations, before enjoying a brilliant performance from local entertainers, The Nukeleles.

Nicola Walker, Home Manager at Clarendon Hall, said: “We were delighted to welcome Anita to the home to unveil our fantastic new art exhibit. Our Residents and their loved ones contributed some great creations to the gallery and the community were certainly impressed by the standard of art on display.”
