Littlehampton Care Home Celebrates Art in CareAs part of the seventh annual Care Home Open Day, HC-One’s Regency Court Care Home opened its doors to the community to take part in creative celebrations.

Care Home Open Day is a national event that gives local people the opportunity to learn more about the care services at the heart of their community. It focusses on bringing those who live locally into care homes to break down misconceptions, showcase what life is really like in a care home, and to highlight the skills and dedication of local people working as carers. The aspiration of everyone having a better understanding of how kind care is delivered.

This year’s theme was ‘Celebrating Art in Care,’ with HC-One launching a national Art Competition to encourage, Residents, their loved ones, colleagues and neighbours to unleash their creativity and design their own masterpiece. Participants could create anything from paintings, drawings, knitting, poetry, calligraphy and pottery – the choices were endless and allowed all talents to be showed-off.

The home hosted an exhibition to display the art work created by Residents, as they  proudly welcomed the Deputy Mayor Councillor David Chace as he assisted with the events of the day, and enjoyed speaking to Residents and Relatives.

Live musicians entertained the home with well known tunes as a raffle was drawn and art work was sold, both raising funds of almost £300. Double celebrations were also in order as a Resident celebrated her birthday at the open day.

The art work was then photographed by a representative from the local West Sussex Council who displayed the pieces online for all to see. To end the afternoon, a home made buffet lunch was provided for all to enjoy.

Mike Rebbeck, Home Manager, commented: “Today has been wonderful, and it has been such a success due to the hard work of everyone in the home. It has been great to see the Residents interacting with the local community.”
