Lincoln councillor celebrates the power of art with Altham Court ResidentsHC-One’s Altham Court care home in Lincoln was delighted to welcome members of the local community for an afternoon of exciting activities as it participated in the seventh annual Care Home Open Day.

The nation-wide event gives local people the opportunity to learn more about the care services at the heart of their community. It focusses on bringing those who live locally into care homes to break down misconceptions, showcase what life is really like in a care home, and to highlight the skills and dedication of local people working as carers.

This year’s theme was ‘Celebrating Art in Care’, with HC-One launching a national art competition for Residents and visitors to the home. Participants could create anything from paintings, drawings, knitting, poetry, calligraphy, pottery and more.

Stuart Bellamy, local artist and relative of Altham Court Resident Luzia, led an art session for everyone attending the open day, while children from Paper Moon nursery visited as they sang and danced along with Residents.

Allison Wallace Dance School also made an appearance, putting on a fantastic show of ballet and tap dancing.

Local Councillor Gary Hewson joined in with the fun activities at Altham Court, as he chatted with Residents over a cup of tea and slice of delicious cake.

Anna Livsey, Home Manager at Altham Court, said: “We were delighted to welcome members of the local community to our Care Home Open Day. Everyone loved watching the entertainment on offer and it was brilliant to see so many smiling faces around!”
