Limpley Stoke care home celebrates art at Care Home Open DayHC-One’s Avonpark care home in Limpley Stoke was delighted to welcome members of the local community to its Care Home Open Day as Residents and Colleagues celebrated art.

Avonpark organised a day filled with exciting activities for the seventh annual Care Home Open Day; a national event that gives local people the opportunity to learn more about the care services at the heart of their community. It focusses on bringing those who live locally into care homes to break down misconceptions, showcase what life is really like in a care home, and to highlight the skills and dedication of local people working as carers.

This year’s theme was ‘Celebrating Art in Care’, with HC-One launching a national art competition for Residents and visitors to the home. Participants could create anything from paintings, drawings, knitting, poetry, calligraphy, pottery and more.

Avonpark proudly displayed Residents’ masterpieces in the home by organising a gallery viewing, as guests viewed artwork ranging from Chinese ink drawings to watercolour paintings.

The event was rounded off with an awards ceremony, canapés and a drinks reception, in addition to a talk from the Victoria Gallery in Bath.

Sara MacCormack, Home Manager at Avonpark, said: “We were delighted to open our doors to the local community for Care Home Open Day. This is always an important date in our diary, and we were so pleased to welcome so many new faces into the home.

“This year’s creativity theme was a perfect fit and we were able to showcase how art is a fantastic way for our Residents to improve their health and wellbeing in a number of different ways.”
