Leigh care home Resident turns 100A very special Resident at Richmond House nursing care home, in Lancashire, turned 100 on the 23rd of August and a wonderful celebration was had by all involved.

Colleagues at the 49-bed care home wanted to make the day as special as they could for Centenarian Jean Smith and decorated Richmond House with balloons and banners for the occasion.

Jean’s family came to visit, bringing her lovely gifts and balloons, and she was smiling for a lot of the day which Colleagues described as the best thing to see!

Jean’s telegraph from the Queen was delivered, and Colleagues read and showed Jean the special card.

Colleagues, Residents and Relatives joined together to sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to Jean, and there were smiles all around.

One of the other Residents said, “Jean looks so happy today, she is such a lovely lady.”

Sonia Walshaw, Wellbeing Coordinator, said, “We hope Jeans day has been as special as she is’
