Leeds care home Resident’s wish is granted as she gets ‘arrested’ by policeLinda Menzies, a 70-year-old Resident at HC-One’s Colton Lodges care home in Colton, Leeds, has taken part in a fake arrest in order to tick the obscure item off her bucket list.

The unique desire to be arrested was revealed when Linda was mistakenly stopped at the security alarms when shopping in her local supermarket. Upon being given the all clear, Linda revealed to a Colleague at Colton Lodges that she was disappointed to have not been handcuffed and detained by the police, as being arrested was on her bucket list.

As part of Colton Lodge’s dedication to helping make Residents’ wishes come true, Sarah Moore, a Colleague at Colton Lodges, contacted the local community police officers to see if they could visit Linda at the home.

Much to Linda’s delight, she soon received a visit from two community police officers to fulfil her wish, as they pretended to arrest her and gave her a caution.

Since checking the arrest off of her bucket list, Linda is keen to embark on her next challenge: a parachute jump.

Emma Brown, Home Manager at Colton Lodges, said: “At HC-One, we are dedicated to promoting Resident wellbeing as much as possible, so it was fantastic to be able to grant Linda’s wish for her.

“Linda is a lovely lady with a brilliant sense of humour and it was lovely to see her smiling from ear to ear as her bucket list wish was carried out.

“The team at Colton Lodges are keen to establish strong connections with the local community, so it was great to see the local police force joining in with helping us to put a smile on Linda’s face.”
