Kind care is celebrated at Sheffield care homeSwallownest care home in Sheffield has celebrated the kind care and long service of several staff members to reward them for their fantastic efforts to the home.

Three Colleagues were awarded Kindness in Care Awards by Swallownest’s Home Manager, Amanda Fields, and Deputy Manager, Jayne Cheetham.

The Kindness in Care Awards programme was launched by HC-One, a leading provider in health and social care, in October 2013.  It recognises the efforts of their kindest colleagues, and the impact they have on the lives of Residents and their loved ones.

Month on month, record breaking numbers of awards are presented to colleagues, volunteers, and whole teams within the family of homes that HC-One operates across the UK.

Jessica Connor and Katie Hassell were recognised for their provision of kind care after supporting a Resident on a shopping trip to Meadowhall on their day off work, as Christopher wanted to buy some new games and CDs.

Karen Robinson-Riley was also presented an award for her kindness, after she dedicated some one-to-one time teaching English phrases to Resident Malkiat, whose native tongue is Punjabi.

Karen was also delighted to receive a Long Service Award for five years at the home, along with fellow Colleague Tracey Cunningham.

Christopher said: “Congratulations to everyone receiving their awards. Jessica and Katie were brilliant and took me out for a lovely day.”

Amanda Fields said: “The team at Swallownest always goes the extra mile for everyone, and these awards are the best way to honour everything they do for our Residents. Life here truly wouldn’t be the same without them, and it’s really inspiring to work alongside Colleagues who are so kind and selfless.”
