Residents at HC-One’s Summerhill care home, in Kendal, Cumbria, enjoyed a delightful and engaging experience with a special visit from Claire’s Cool Creatures.
Animal interactions provide a beneficial experience for residents, and this visit was no exception as they enjoyed the opportunity to meet and learn about a variety of fascinating little creatures.
Claire, from Claire’s Cool Creatures, brought a diverse selection of animals. These included adorable baby Silky Hens, an African Pygmy Hedgehog, and exotic species such as leopard geckos and giant snails.
Claire held two group sessions with Summerhill residents to enable every resident to engage with the interesting animals. Claire also shared intriguing facts and insights about each species that visited Summerhill.
Lynsey Wood, HC-One’s Summerhill Care Home Wellbeing Coordinator, stated:
“Animal therapy is so important to our residents, especially for those who struggle more to engage with us. Seeing animals can really help bring back very positive memories and truly brighten their mood and overall wellbeing.”
Claire’s knowledge and enthusiasm helped residents form deeper connections with the creatures, sparking curiosity and conversation throughout the visit.
