Keeping busy during lockdown at Wirral HomeSteve Johnson, one of the Residents at County Homes care home, approached the Wellbeing Coordinator, Jacky Cross and Home Manager, Debby Jamieson during lockdown saying he wanted something to keep him busy. He asked if the home wanted to make the garden look nice for the summer. He suggested that the garden furniture could do with updating and asked to re-stain it all. To which the home was delighted at the offer

Since then, Steve has kept himself very busy (weather permitting) and has re-stained all the tables, chairs and benches for everyone to use and sit outside.

Jacky commented, “We are so pleased with his work and happy that, when visiting is able to restart in the home, the Relatives and Residents will be able to sit on furniture that looks well-presented and not weather worn”.

Steve continues to help in the garden by painting the handrails and fence posts and now the home have purchased a small greenhouse and cold frame as Steve said he would like to start growing some plants to put in the pots and hanging baskets.

When asked about his project, Steve said, “The garden furniture needed updating and I wanted something to do whilst we were unable to go out”.

Home Manager, Debby Homes, said, “Steve has done a great job with the garden furniture which was looking a little worn - when he asked us if he could help we were more than happy to provide the equipment required”.
