Residents, Colleagues and Relatives at
Clarendon Hall care home, in Grimsby, have been taking part in lots of wonderful activities this September, including a trip to the zoo and taking part in National Art Day.
On 29th September Residents said that they wanted to go and visit the Jungle Zoo, which is due to close soon after 50 years of operating. So, Colleagues organised a trip with some of the Residents and their family members.
It was such a lovely day for all involved, the group had a drive around the sea front and everyone enjoyed an ice-cream. The trip sparked some reminiscence about Cleethorpes town, especially when Residents saw the new lifeboat building going up.
Colleagues Hayley Sandison, David Page and Mandy Rands accompanied Residents and family members and it was agreed by all that the giant tortoise was the best as it was just walking around when they went in.
The family members enjoyed the trip and said they would love to help on any other trips.
Violet, who lives at the 49-bed residential and nursing care home said, “I remember the zoo from when my children were little, and it is quite sad (that its closing).”
Nicola Walker, Home Manager at Clarendon Hall, said, “It is great to be able to support our local community especially at this difficult time.”
For National Art Day, Jean Kelly, Amy Glover, Jean Lennox, Barbara Brumby, Shirley Stafford and Wendy Philpott decided that with the weather changing, they would like to use nature to influence the home’s art project.
Everyone involved in the art class enjoyed using their artistic talents to create some amazing artwork with Wellbeing Coordinator Hayley Sandison.
After the session, some Residents decided to put their artwork on the wall in their bedroom.
Wendy commented, “I thoroughly enjoyed the project and didn’t think I would be able to do it!”
Hayley remarked, “It is better when everyone comes up with the ideas themselves.”
