Another very busy month has taken place at
The Willows residential and residential memory care home, in Hinckley.
On 19th July, Colleagues took a group of ladies, including Julie and Liz, who had never gardened before, into the home’s outdoor space to plant some herbs in the new planters.
Both ladies really enjoyed getting their hands dirty and getting stuck in. They can’t wait to see all the herbs starting to grow. They both particularly enjoyed digging the holes for the seeds.
One of the ladies remarked, “I have never done gardening before, it’s quite fun!”
Also, this month, on 22nd July, the home had their very own 1950s day, celebrating everything from the decade.
Everyone at the home got into the spirit of the day by getting dressed up, having singalongs with musical instruments and playing fun games, including a quiz.
All the Residents enjoyed having their photos taken with the different props and after a fun-filled day, everyone sat down to enjoy a buffet tea.
Following on, Kevin Garrett, who is a Resident at the home, had his piano delivered to the care home and when it arrived his face lit up when he saw it. Kevin played a couple of tunes to everyone and both Colleagues and fellow Residents all had a lovely time clapping and singing along.
“This is fantastic, we love it!” One Resident claimed.
Anna Nowak, Care Home Manager, commented, “It was fabulous and very emotional for us all to watch Kevin plan. We are very grateful for his family who allowed Kevin’s piano to be delivered to the Willows. He is our very own entertainer now!”
