It has been a fun-filled month at
HC-One’s Newlands care home, in Heaton Moor, Stockport, with lots of awards, activities, events and visitors.
July saw colleagues being presented with awards which included Housekeeper Val being given ‘Employee of the Month’. Val is always keen to help in the home from serving breakfast, helping the care staff, joining in activities, wearing fancy dress or just spending time with residents.
Melissa Johnson, Home Manager at Newlands, said:
“Nothing feels too much trouble with Val, and we all appreciate her so much.”
Gwen and Faiza received their long service awards and Nicola and Sima got a big ‘thank you’ from Melissa for taking care of Newlands while she was on holiday.
Residents have also been having a fantastic month with lots to choose from in the enhanced wellbeing and activities plan which included sports, with Roy particularly enjoying balloon tennis during Wimbledon, and residents getting ready for the Euros, singing ‘It’s Coming Home’.
There was also lots of other activities including a resident painting session and a movie day watching the Glenn Miller Story. Residents attended a ‘virtual day at the races’ and enjoyed watching the horseracing with a refreshing glass of Pimm’s, and dancers from Bates Stage School performed for residents.
A ‘Dancing Through the Decades’ open day was held as part of Care Home Open Week 2024. During the open day, record albums decorated the hall, and Housekeeper Val and Wellbeing Coordinator Rachel dressed up. There was a live performance from singer Ian Jenkins and the local mother and toddler group joined for the day.
Peter, who lives at Newlands, celebrated his birthday this month and sported his new birthday shirt. Peter loves westerns and anything cowboy related so loved the shirt he got for his birthday last month (see pictured bottom right).
It’s been a jam-packed month but full of fun, laughter and love.
