Joy at Jack Dormand as Local VIPs celebrate ‘Outstanding’ CQC successFestivities were in full swing at HC-One’s Jack Dormand Care Home in Horden, Peterlee, as Residents and esteemed guests from the local community celebrated the Home’s “Outstanding” rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

The home hosted a fun-filled day and welcomed guests including MP Grahame Morris, Chair of the Parish Council, Isabelle Roberts, and respected local GP Dr Joseph Chandy, all of whom were delighted to be involved in the praise for Jack Dormand and witness first-hand the exceptional care available within the Horden community.

Alongside Residents, colleagues, friends and family, guests were treated to a performance of George Formby classics by tribute act Paul Casper, and a show from magician, singer, and Punch and Judy puppeteer, Mel Godber. Pupils from Yohden Primary School were also invited to the home to enjoy the entertainment, and gathered around to watch the puppet show whilst also getting to know their neighbours.

As well as the exciting entertainment, a military tank was provided courtesy of Horden Tank Restoration, and Residents were able to reminisce and talk about their memories over a delicious selection of cakes and other treats provided by the Jack Dormand kitchen team.

An overall “Outstanding” rating is fantastic recognition of the high level of care being provided by Jack Dormand’s ‘extremely caring’ team and demonstrates that Jack Dormand is among one of the leading care homes in the country.

Marie Shillaw, HC-One Jack Dormand Care Home Manager, said:

“We are delighted to have been rated as an ‘Outstanding’ home. Everybody here is so passionate and it is lovely to be recognised for the great care we deliver.

“The rating was issued on the 30-year anniversary of Jack Dormand’s opening, so this was the best birthday present everybody here could have hoped for!

“We had a great time celebrating and thank you to everyone who came to make the day so special.”
