Jarrow Care Home visits Discovery MuseumHC-One’s Needham Court Care Home in Jarrow, Tyne and Wear enjoy a trip out to Newcastle and see the exhibits of local history at the Discovery Museum. 

Sheridan Locke, Wellbeing Coordinator at Needham Court, took Residents Harry Newton, David Maloy, Fred Mason, Catherine Dowie and Catherine Milburn to the museum where they loved looking at the exhibits. 

The highlight of the day was seeing the Turbinia Ship, the world’s first steam turbine powered ship built by Charles Algernon Parsons, changing the face of maritime history.

They also enjoyed looking at the steam locomotive rocket designed by Robert Stephenson and made by Robert Stephenson & Co in 1829. 

Afterwards, everyone enjoyed a coffee and chocolate at the museum cafĂ© before heading outside into the sunshine, where they took a trip over the Tyne Bridge. 

The Residents all had a great day and can’t wait for their next museum adventure.
