Jackpot for Jack Dormand Corks are popping, cakes cut, and party hats donned at HC-One’s Jack Dormand Care Home in Horden, County Durham, as Residents and colleagues celebrate receiving an “Outstanding” rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) – the highest grade that can be awarded.

The home was awarded an overall “Outstanding” rating in recognition of the highest level of care being provided by Jack Dormand’s ‘extremely caring’ team. This rating recognises that the team at the home are delivering the kindest and very best care to Residents, and that Jack Dormand is among one of the leading care homes in the country.

This latest accolade for Jack Dormand comes following the home’s recent success at the National Care Awards, in which Jack Dormand nurse Julie Noble was crowned the UK’s Nurse of the Year for 2017. Julie dedicated her award to her colleagues at the home and HC-One for their ongoing and unwavering support.

A hattrick of celebrations for the home was topped off last month as Jack Dormand was voted one of the Top 20 Care Homes in the North East by carehome.co.uk, the sector’s leading care home comparison website.

The home’s incredible success is in no doubt thanks to the kind and compassionate care provided by colleagues at Jack Dormand. The CQC’s report highlighted colleagues’ ‘caring and fun nature’, which was seconded by Residents and relatives, with one Resident commenting, “I don’t think things could get better than this. The [staff] are brilliant.” One family member also expressed delight at the care their relative received at Jack Dormand: “I can’t believe the improvement in my [relative], it’s a weight off my mind knowing that [relative] is being looked after so well. You can’t improve on it.”

Local MP Grahame Morris also visited Jack Dormand in February to pass on his congratulations to the team for the fantastic work they do to ensure that Residents receive the highest quality care.

Jack Dormand’s achievements reflect HC-One’s commitment to being the care provider of choice across its family of homes for individuals looking for the kindest care and support. This is also demonstrated by HC-One achieving a 9.2/10 average rating on carehome.co.uk, the sector’s leading care home comparison website, with Jack Dormand itself boasting an impressive 9.8/10 rating. The high rating shows that HC-One is one of the best companies in the care home sector as rated by service users. HC-One currently also has the highest compliance rating of all independent residential care home providers.

Marie Shillaw, HC-One Jack Dormand Care Home Manager, said:

“We are delighted to have been rated as an ‘Outstanding’ home. Everyone here works so incredibly hard to ensure that Residents receive the very best care at all times, and it is a great privilege to be recognised in this way.”

Justin Hutchens, Chief Executive Officer at HC-One, said:

“I would like to thank and congratulate every colleague at Jack Dormand for their hard work. At HC-One we aim to be the care provider of choice for Residents in the communities that we serve, and Jack Dormand epitomises this mission. The home is a real asset to the HC-One family, and they deserve every single bit of praise they have received.

“Only around 3% of care homes in England achieve this rating. Being recognised as one of the very few providers to achieve this for one of our nursing homes is a huge moment for us, and I am immensely proud to work alongside such outstanding colleagues.”
