Isle of Skye care home host St Andrew’s Day celebrationsResidents at HC-One’s Home Farm Care Home on the Isle of Skye flew the Scottish flag with pride as they celebrated St Andrew’s Day with a tea party.

The home threw a Scottish celebration on Friday 30th November enabling Residents, families and the community to come together to enjoy the National day.

In true patriotic fashion, Residents and staff wore their favourite or family’s tartan including hats, kilts and scarves, whilst enjoying traditional food served as a buffet, prepared by the Head Chef. Visitors, including Residents and Relatives from local care home Bomhore Residential Home, enjoyed a St Andrew’s Day themed tea party with Highland dancers

Robert Ainslie, Home Manager at Home Farm Care Home commented:

“It is very important for us to respect and encourage traditions and we knew a day of importance, such as this for our Scottish Residents, was worthy of a celebration.

“The celebration was enjoyable for everyone that attended and the Residents particularly enjoyed welcoming guests into their home.”

Residents enjoyed the interaction with the younger generation and the wonderful buffet, Catherine MacLean commented:

“What a wonderful afternoon and the Highland dancers were excellent.”

St Andrew’s Day celebrates Scotland’s patron saint, a fisherman well known for being strong, sociable and fair. He encouraged people to share what they had with those in need and wished for people to be kind and charitable.
