Irvine care home introduces new initiative, ‘3 O’clock Stop’Following on from other homes in the local area, HC-One’s Fullarton Care Home in Irvine, Ayrshire, have introduced the 3 O’clock Stop to all four units and it has gone down a storm with Residents, Relatives and Colleagues.

This new initiative allows the team at Fullarton in each department to stop what they are doing in their normal day-to-day work and instead go and spend time with the Residents for at least thirty minutes.

The 3 O’clock Stop has seen Fullaton’s Financial Administrator, Yvonne Mitchell, calling out Bingo numbers in the Harmony Unit, Laundry Assistants painting some of the ladies nails, the catering team playing Connect 4 and Dominoes with Residents and other staff including the Home Manager and the Deputy spending time with Residents in their rooms.

The Residents have really enjoyed spending time with the team and getting to know them better, commenting:

“I love talking to staff and having afternoon tea with them at 3 o’clock.”

Graham Kelly, Home Manager at Fullarton, commented:

“There has been a fantastic effort made by Team Fullarton – well done and don’t forget that kindness builds genuine relationships.”

As a result of this initiative, Fullarton have now introduced a weekly knitting group which is run by Relatives and Carers.
