Inverness care home alive with the sound of musicResidents at HC-One’s Cradlehall care home in Inverness welcomed Audrey Whyte and her team of volunteers from Sounds Familiar on Wednesday 1st May.

Sounds Familiar is a singing group for people with dementia and carers, the group joined Residents at Cradlehall for an afternoon of music, songs, and gentle movement.

Everyone had fun engaging with the music, which for some, brought back memories both happy and sad. The visit from Sounds Familiar was particularly special for one Resident, Agnes Notman, who was among the founding members of the group six years ago with her late husband, Tom.

The volunteers from Sounds Familiar spent time chatting with Agnes about the group and also joined Agnes and her fellow Residents for shortbread and tea after the session.

Cradlehall Home Manager, Lynn Darge said: “I have never seen so many Residents taking part in a musical event before, it was heart-warming to see everyone having such a good time.

“Thank you to Audrey and the whole team from Sounds Familiar for visiting Cradlehall, we hope to see you all again very soon.”
