International Women’s Day celebrated at Aston House HC-One’s Aston House in Hayes celebrated all the amazing women, both Residents and staff, at the home on Thursday 8th March for International Women’s Day.

The Home Manager and his male colleagues at Aston House decided to surprise all the lovely ladies at the home with a beautiful single rose.

The rose was a token of appreciation to all the women at the home for who they are, what they do and for being amazing wives, mothers, sisters, aunts and friends. All of the ladies loved their rose and thanked the kind gentlemen for thinking of them and making the effort.

This kind gesture brightened everybody’s day, some people had never heard of International Women’s Day but everyone agreed that women deserved to be celebrated.

Jean, a Resident at Aston House said she has heard of International Women’s Day but never in a million years expected that anybody would give her anything for it. She also received a rose from her loving husband Sidney for being a ‘cracking wife’ and ‘a great mother to their children’.

Mevin Sohorye, Home Manager at Aston House said:

“It was a spontaneous decision all the men from different departments made this morning to show how much we appreciate the ladies living at Aston House and those who work hard to make our care home feel like the home that it is today!

It was a small gesture with a big impact - we saw Residents smile who usually would struggle expressing themselves and that alone made it worthwhile for both me and my colleagues!

I strongly believe that women should be celebrated for who they are and what they do and it is great to see so many strong women here at Aston House and all over the world today!

We have definitely come a long way since the suffragettes. Like they say: A strong woman in her essence is a gift to the world!”
