Intergenerational visits bring joy to Durham care home ResidentsHC-One’s St Margaret’s care home in Durham has opened its doors to the young to help build intergenerational bonds.

Pupils from St Margaret’s Primary School visited the home to spend some quality time with Residents and they didn’t come empty handed. The children brought a selection of delicious homemade biscuits which they had prepared specially for Residents at St Margaret’s.

Students from Durham University also visited Residents to perform their musical instruments, the group played a stringed trio which Residents enjoyed listening to and chatting with the students after the performance.
Yellow Wellies Nursery children came to play games and spend time with Residents, everyone enjoyed taking part in the activities and watching the small children playing and having fun.

St Margaret’s Home Manager, Katherine Swainston said: “We are delighted to have strong community links which enable us to bring different generations together, it has a significant impact on our Resident’s wellbeing.”
