Intergenerational project at Hayes care homeHC-One’s Aston House care home in Hayes welcomed pupils from Botwell House Roman Catholic Primary School as part of a new intergenerational project which aims to build strong community links and relationships between different generations.

Residents were joined by a special group of pupils for the first of monthly visits on Friday 1st February, everyone took part in games of noughts and crosses using iPads and some Residents helped the children with spelling and reading.

The first visit went very well, with both Residents and pupils commenting on what a great time they had. The team at Aston House are working closely with Botwell House Catholic Primary School Inclusion Manager, Angela Wilcock to plan a variety of engaging activities for all to enjoy during the monthly visits.

Seema Jose, Home Manager at Aston House said:

“At Aston House, we are constantly thinking of new ways to bring Residents and the local community together. This project is something we have been planning for a while and seeing the plans come to life during the first session was amazing.

“There are no words to describe the wonderful feeling and atmosphere that the interaction between the Residents and children creates, we are looking forward to creating more special memories together in the months to come.”

Amanda Scott, HC-One Regional Managing Director commented:

“The new intergenerational project at Aston House sounds great! Organising memorable events like this is an important part of how HC-One provides the kindest care.”
