Intergenerational project at Hamilton care homeHC-One’s Douglas View care home in Hamilton has teamed up with local primary school, St Paul’s as part of an intergenerational project for Residents at the home and pupils at the school.

Over the last six months, young and old have come together on a regular basis to help create bonds throughout the different generations. During the sessions, Residents and pupils have shared stories, played games and worked together on different projects.

At the most recent visit, students from St Paul’s helped create a nature trail for Residents in the garden at Douglas View. Residents assisted with the project and said that it was wonderful to see the children coming up with different ideas for the garden.

The project is proving to be a success, with both pupils and Residents commenting on how much they look forward to their visits and that they are getting to know each other.
