Today at
Brandon House in Coventry, which provides nursing memory care, the wellbeing team had arranged for local ice cream man Mr. Salvatory to visit the home.
Simon Day the Wellbeing Coordinator had arranged Mr Salvatory to visit the home for a very special reason. Jim, one of the Residents at the home had worked as an ice cream man for 30 years. Jim was delighted to see Mr Salvatory as they had been friends for a number of years. He enjoyed catching up with his old Colleague and they chatted about old times, and of course, enjoyed a massive ice cream adorned with strawberry sauce and said it was lovely!
Jim Ward afterwards had said “it was a great day to enjoy ice cream and see the van again”. Colleagues also said, “It was lovely for Jim to see his old friend and the ice cream van, it had been a big part of his life for 30 year”.
Sheryl, the Home Manager, had said something similar “With Jim being an ice cream man for 30 years, it was lovely for him to see the van and taste the ice cream again. His wife tells me that the kids loved him and would always run over to see him”.
