Huddersfield Wellbeing Coordinator shortlisted for Great British Care AwardLisa Bailey, Wellbeing Coordinator, at HC-One’s The Oakes care home in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, a 60-bed residential and residential dementia care home, has been shortlisted in The Care Home Activity Organiser Award Category at the York and Humberside region of the Great British Care Awards

The nomination for the award is in recognition of her hard work and kind care shown to Residents, Relatives and Colleagues as well as the dedication and passion Lisa shows every day to ensure the people she supports receive the best quality care.

Lisa has made a huge impact within The Oakes since stepping into her wellbeing role. She has designed an indoor garden for Residents to enjoy and has a coffee shop that she has created, where Residents enjoy coffee mornings and shop for treats and toiletries. Lisa has developed good relationships with the community around the home, particularly with local schools and shops, who get involved with events that Lisa holds throughout the year. 

Home Manager, Macheala Parker, who nominated Lisa for the award, said:
“Lisa’s attitude towards Residents’ rights is fabulous, she challenges appropriately to ensure Residents’ needs are put first, this fosters a unique relationship between Lisa and Residents and their families. 

The benefit from her work is immeasurable; Resident communication, inclusion, motivation and mood have all been supported by her.

Lisa goes above and beyond to ensure the job is done.”


The Great British Care Awards consist of 21 awards, which cover a wide range of areas of the social care sector. The awards are a series of regional events throughout the UK and are a celebration of distinction across the care sector. The awards pay tribute to those who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their area of work. The award ceremony of the Great British Care Awards 2022, Regional Awards for the York and Humber region takes place on Friday 11th November 2022 when the winners will be announced. Successful winners at the York and Humber regional awards will progress to the national finals of the Great British Care Awards 2023 taking place on Friday 17th March 2023 at the ICC in Birmingham.
