Dora Mettrick, a Resident at
The Denby, residential and residential dementia care home in Huddersfield, celebrated her 100th birthday.
On the 29th of December 1922, in Backworth, Newcastle, Dora Mettrick was born and is now celebrating her 100th birthday.
Dora started her career in a ammunition factory during the war and went on to work in domestic roles throughout her life. She loved knitting and really enjoyed dancing when she was younger.
She married her husband Bernard and had two sons Les and Brian.
When asked what her secret is to a long life, Dora said, “Not smoking or drinking will keep you healthy.”
To celebrate her birthday Dora invited over her family and they took her for a lovely lunch. Colleagues decorated her room with banners and balloons and sang her ‘Happy Birthday’.
Hannah Carrington, Care Home Manager, said, “Everyone at The Denby, wishes Dora a very happy birthday!”
