A very special birthday was celebrated on the 7th of January at
The Denby, residential and residential dementia care home, in Huddersfield.
Arthur Earnshaw, born on the 7th of January 1921, in Leeds has recently celebrated his 102nd birthday.
Arthur pursued a career in engineering and enjoyed gardening and decorating in his spare time.
He has two daughters and stepdaughter and 4 lovely grandchildren who he spends a lot of time with.
His birthday celebrations started with Colleagues decorating the lounge with banners, balloons, and other decorations. The fantastic kitchen team made a lovely cake, and everyone sang ‘happy birthday’.
Arthur spent the day with his family, they took him out for a fish and chip dinner, which is his favourite. When he arrived back at the care home, he spent the evening looking back on what has happened throughout the years on a tablet. He was amazed by the technology.
When asked what the secret to a long life is, Arthur said, “The odd tipple.”
Arthur had a lovely day surrounded by friends and family and celebrated his 102nd birthday with the ones he loves.
Hannah Carrington, Care Home Manager, added, “From all of us at The Denby, we wish Arthur a very happy 102nd birthday.”
