Huddersfield Care Assistant and Housekeeper shortlisted for Carer Award at the National Care AwardsKay Oldroyd, Care Assistant and Housekeeper, at HC-One’s The Denby care home in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, a 47-bed residential care home, has been shortlisted for The Care Home Worker Award Category at the National Care Awards 2022.

The nomination for the award is in recognition of her hard work and kind care shown to Residents, Relatives and Colleagues as well as the dedication and passion Kay shows every day to ensure the people who she supports receive the best quality care.

Kay has worked at The Denby since October 2016, she has worked in many roles within the service from Head Housekeeper and Care Assistant and supports as a Kitchen Assistant. Kay will regularly pick up shifts to ensure the service runs smoothly and the Residents are supported in all aspects of their daily living. She has a fantastic rapport with all the Residents and Relatives at the home and is always welcoming to all she meets.

Home Manager, Hannah Carrington, who nominated Kay for the award, said:
“I am over the moon for Kay to be a finalist at the National Care Awards. She always delivers person-centred care to the Residents and is supportive in whatever role she is working. She has the ability to welcome new Residents and their families to help people settle into the service and to have a lovely experience living here at The Denby.”

Michelle Sandford, who is a Team Leader at the home said:
“Kay is a very well-integrated member of the team, she goes above and beyond and is always willing to work wherever needed within the home, even coming in to take residents out on her days off.”

The National Care Awards consist of 20 awards which cover a wide range of areas of the social care sector. The awards pay tribute to those who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their area of work. The award ceremony of the National Care Awards 2022 takes place at Park Plaza, Westminster Bridge on Saturday 26th November.
