Horsham care home celebrates art in careHC-One’s Oakhill House Care Home recently opened its doors to celebrate the seventh annual National Care Home Open Day.

This year’s theme was ‘Celebrating Art in Care,’ with HC-One launching a national Art Competition to encourage, Residents, their loved ones, Colleagues and neighbours to unleash their creativity and design their own masterpiece. Participants could create anything from paintings, drawings, knitting, poetry, calligraphy and pottery – the choices were endless and allowed all talents to be showed-off.

The event was held in the home’s courtyard, with live music entertainment provided for all to enjoy. A homemade buffet was also provided for Residents and visitors to enjoy, whilst the music played and everyone sang along.

Various activities also took place throughout the day, including a raffle which raised money for the Residents’ comfort fund, as well as art and craft stations.

Visitors from local Horsham District Council also attended the event as they assisted with various activities and spoke with Residents and Relatives.

Beckie Condie, Home Manager, commented: “It has been such a lovely day enjoyed by all, and it’s wonderful to see the Residents enjoying themselves. The day has been made such a success thanks to everyone’s hard work.”
