Honiton care home remembers D-Day
Residents at Gittisham Hill House recently commemorated D-Day in the home as they took the time to remember those that sacrificed their lives during the war.

A day of reminiscing took place as war music was played and flags were waved, and Residents toasted to those lost in the war as they sang and danced to the songs, sharing emotional stories with each other of their own experiences.

Residents recollected their memories of the war, as some described working as a warden checking shelters for safety, working in the Air Force with responsibility for ground logisitics and some described working in bunkers with limited oxygen.

Marita Westaway, Home Manager, commented: “It was a very emotional afternoon as all recollected their experiences of the war, it was a poignant way to reminisce and everyone enjoyed sharing their stories.”
