Henley care home remembers D-DayResidents and Colleagues at Thamesfield commemorated the 75th anniversary of D-Day recently with a themed lunch.

The room was appropriately decorated in a red, white and blue, with hand made ‘ration book’ place names at the table for each Resident. World War 2 posters also adorned the table as war music played in the background.

Everyone raised a glass to toast to those that sacrificed their lives in the war as they enjoyed a delicious three-course menu which was lovingly prepared by the home’s chef.

Residents enjoyed themselves as they shared their memories with each other, with one Resident recollected watching the boats leaving Portsmouth as they waved them off.

Lina Nela, Home Manager, commented: “It was lovely to see the Residents reminiscing with each other as the decorations helped to bring back many memories.”
