Irene, Mary, Joan and Barbara, Residents at Hawthorn Court care home in Hebburn – part of HC-One, the kind care company – enjoyed a day out at Jesmond Dene Animal Centre and Zoo on Wednesday 24th July.
The ladies explored the beautiful grounds, admiring waterfalls and wildlife as they strolled, everyone stopped to watch the different species of birds flying in their cages. Everyone enjoyed a delicious picnic-style lunch followed by a delicious ice cream to keep cool in the summer sunshine.
A great time was had by all, especially by Irene who enjoyed reminiscing about her younger days when her family had their own chickens and sold the eggs in their shop in Sunderland.
Hawthorn Court Home Manager, Amanda Sleightholme said: “It was lovely to hear about the ladies trip to Jesmond Dene Animal Centre, the smiles on their faces when they returned said it all.”
