Birds of Prey and some exotic animals entertained residents at Lincoln’s White Gables Care Home recently.
Residents at the HC-One home got the opportunity to handle a Barn Owl, Harris Hawk and many exotic animals. There was an African Pigmy Hedgehog, Bearded Dragon, Mexican Red-bellied Tarantula, Giant Bird Eating Spider, a Giant Millipede, a snake and a skunk. Some residents were brave enough to have a go holding every single animal. The weather was pleasant outside so the animals were not apprehensive to brave the elements. It was an amazing experience for the residents and relatives who attended. Some fears were overcome and many achievements attained.
Wellbeing coordinator Katherine Trevor said: “I can’t believe I actually had the millipede on me. It’s the one thing I’ve always been scared of.”
Janice Foreman, relative of HC-One resident Jean Lound said: “I’ve had a cracking time. I’m just glad he kept the spiders away from me.”
Joan Kettleborough, resident, said: “What a great morning. I loved every minute.”
