HC-One makes kind donation ahead of Cake4Kindness Day

HC-One’s Support Office team have decorated and donated 100 cakes to Kings Church Foodbank as part of HC-One’s support for Cake4Kindness day.

HC-One colleagues supported their local foodbank in Darlington ahead of Cake4Kindness Day by donning their creativity and baking skills to decorate 100 delicious cupcakes.

Working in partnership with EF-Group, who provided the supplies, HC-One donated the cupcakes to Kings Church Foodbank to help support and build relationships with local community initiatives in the area.

Members of HC-One’s Support Office dropped the cakes off at Kings Church in Darlington for their coffee morning corner at their foodbank. Kings Church Foodbank is a place where those experiencing hardship can come and receive an emergency bag of food and ongoing support until they are back on their feet.

The kind act is also supported by HC-One’s care homes across the UK, as residents and colleagues have also been baking and decorating cupcakes to donate to local charities, homeless shelters and soup kitchens for Cake4Kindness Day on 21st November.

Cake4Kindness Day encourages people to support local charities by baking and decorating cakes and donating cakes to local charities, homeless shelters and soup kitchens. Cake4Kindness Day is focused on spreading kindness and good will, and alleviating loneliness and social isolation for those experiencing homelessness and other vulnerable groups, sparking conversations and interaction between those from different walks of life, and encouraging others to help those less fortunate.

Mark Meacham, HC-One’s Head of Catering and Housekeeping Support Services, said:
“It is very important to us at HC-One, the Kind Care Company, to support good causes such as Cake4Kindness whose aim it is to help those less fortunate and support charities. I am delighted that HC-One’s Support Office colleagues took part in the initiative and donated cakes to their local Foodbank for those who have fallen on hard times.

“The Cake4Kindness initiative and cause exemplifies HC-One’s ethos of kindness, as we aim to be the first-choice care home for residents and colleagues in each of the communities we serve.

Caroline Todd, Manager at Kings Church Foodbank, stated:

“We feel really blessed that HC-One contacted us and informed us of Cake4Kindness. We run a tea/coffee section where clients can get a hot drink, so having a donation of cupcakes was very fitting.

“The cupcakes were an instant hit with the clients, and certainly put a smile on many faces. We would like to thank HC-One for their amazing contribution to the fight against food poverty, and we greatly appreciate the support especially during the run up to Christmas where so many in Darlington are struggling.”

Neel Radia, Founder of Cake4Kindness, CIC, commented:

“Our mission is to bring communities together through baking together as a means of connecting and reducing loneliness and social isolation. We then donate our baking through kindness to local charities and community groups who support people experiencing homelessness.

“We are delighted, and excited to be working with HC-One for our first Cake4Kindness Day and hope it will inspire others to join in. Together we can work towards reducing loneliness and social isolation in our communities.”
