A harvest festival held at HC-One’s Worsley Lodge helped Residents to meet new people, make new friends and have meaningful moments in the company of others.
The event was also in support of Silver Sunday, which helps combat loneliness within the community and helps to increase happiness and wellbeing.
Worsley Lodge welcomed members of the local community to mark the start of the autumn season on Friday, October 5 and hosted a range of harvest themed activities including inviting local lady Olive into the home. Olive has lived alone for the last 9 years after losing her husband. Olive had been feeling a little lonely and so the home invited her to join in their celebrations.
They had tea and cake and later the home presented Olive with a lovely hamper of food and chocolates. Olive said the day had meant a lot to her.
Residents and staff enjoyed live entertainment and even got up and had a dance.

It was lovely to connect with people living alone in the community and make a difference, even if it is for one day.”
Silver Sunday celebrates older people and helps to combat loneliness, while Harvest Festival celebrates food that’s grown and produced on England’s home soil.
Worsley Lodge encourages everyone to feel part of things both within the home and the wider community. Harvest Festival and Silver Sunday was open to friends, family, neighbours and local members of the community.
