HC-One care homes mark Pride MonthHC-One care homes across the UK have been taking part in a variety of events to celebrate Pride Month to show their support for the LGBTQIA+ community and their achievements. 

At Berry Hill Park Care Home, in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, the home’s kitchen team consisting of Debbie Pearson, Catering Manager, got creative by making a special layered pride rainbow cake.

The cake was carefully and beautifully decorated by Briony Finney, Carer, and Janet Brandham, Wellbeing Coordinator, who used their teamwork skills to add an eye-catching cake topper and decorations to finish the completed look of the cake.

Residents and colleagues were impressed with the team’s efforts and enjoyed indulging in a slice of cake with a cup of tea. 

Janet Brandham, Wellbeing Coordinator at Berry Hill Park Care Home, commented: 

“A big well done to the team for using their culinary and creative skills to create a fantastic pride cake for everyone at the home to enjoy. 

“Residents and colleagues enjoyed taking the opportunity to have a slice of cake, a cup of tea and a chat about Pride Month and the importance to mark the month. It’s important to us at Berry Hill Park to support the LGBTQIA+ community.” 

At Rose Court Care Home, in Radcliffe, Manchester, residents took part in an enjoyable, messy and fun arts and crafts celebration to mark Pride month. 

Residents designed their own pride t-shirts with the help of family members and colleagues who joined in the activity.

Residents wore the t-shirts for the home’s Pride Month celebration event, which was hosted on Wednesday, June 26, where the home hosted drag comedienne, DJ and Cabaret Singer, Aunty Ginger. The home welcomed family members and members of the local community to their Pride Month celebration event. Rose Court had the tiki bar in full flow offering refreshments including ice lollies, as well as having a BBQ and selling the t-shirts residents had made the residents had made, water bottles and paintings.

“It’s vital to us at Rose Court Care Home to support the LGBTQIA+ community and promote inclusivity and diversity, and support residents and colleagues to be their best and true selves. 

“Residents, colleagues and family members really enjoyed taking part in an arts and crafts session together where they used their creative skills to create and design their own Pride Month t-shirts which were then worn at the home’s Pride Month celebration event hosted by drag comedienne, Aunty Ginger where everyone had a fabulous time.”

At Meadow Bank Care Home, in Preston, Lancashire, residents from Willow House community took part in a colouring in session to mark Pride Month while chatting to each other about the power of love.

The Wellbeing Team provided residents with a selection of images to choose from, including images of rainbows, love hearts and the word love. 

Residents picked their chosen image and felt tip pens to enjoy a relaxing colouring in session to create their masterpiece artworks, which were proudly put on display around the home to show their support for the LGBTQIA+ community and spread the love.

“At Meadow Bank Care Home, it’s important for us to champion equality, understanding, respect and inclusivity for all. 

“Residents really enjoyed getting involved in a colouring in session to mark Pride Month and enjoyed sharing stories of love with each other.”
