HC-One care home welcomes Deputy Minister for Social Services Julie Morgan MSResidents and colleagues at HC-One’s The Daffodils care home in Georgetown, Merthyr Tydfil, were pleased to welcome Julie Morgan MS, Deputy Minister for Social Services and MS for Cardiff North, when she visited the home on 16th November 2023.

Residents and colleagues enjoyed meeting the Deputy Minister and talking to her about what life is like at The Daffodils, which is an integral part of the local Merthyr Tydfil community.

HC-One’s Area Director, Eileen Coyle-Jones, Responsible Individual and Regional Director for Wales, Carol Dight and The Daffodils’ Home Manager, Sara Webb, gave the Deputy Minister a tour of the home and discussed the type of care services the home provides. The Deputy Minister was also shown the home’s Dream Tree, where residents write down their wishes, hang these on the tree in the home, and colleagues explore ways that they can grant these wishes.

During the visit, the team also talked to the Deputy Minister about the importance of local winter planning, as well as how care homes can work with local NHS partners to alleviate pressures on hospital beds, and to support discharge pathways into care homes.

Sara Webb, Home Manager at The Daffodils Care Home, commented:

“We were delighted to welcome the Deputy Minister for Social Services to HC-One’s The Daffodils care home, and to show her what a fantastic community we have here. Everyone had a lovely time, and it was great to be able to share our insights on issues in the social care sector and how we can support our local partners.”
