Worsley Lodge care home helps to keep the local community hydratedAlan a Resident from HC-One Worsley Lodge care home, in Worsley, Manchester, and Colleagues Sophie and Angela from the wellbeing team have been going out into the community giving out bottles of water to people and their animals, to help them stay hydrated in the sunshine.

Worsley Lodge care home is located on a beautiful trail loop, which regularly sees dog walkers, runners and passers-by enjoying nature and getting some daily exercise in. Colleagues made up a ‘Hydration Station’ in different areas of the local walkways on the trail, and together with Alan, they handed out bottles of water to members of the public, as well as filling dog bowls for their animals.

Some people were having a stroll with their animals, others were sunbathing or even jogging. Many stopped to say what a brilliant idea it was and appreciated the gesture.

One member of the public remarked, “What a fantastic idea for our local community, especially with the temperatures we are experiencing at this time!”

Alan said he thought this was a fantastic idea and was delighted to be able to a part of it. He enjoyed meeting people and their animals.

Angela McGinty, Wellbeing Coordinator, commented, “It was a great success in helping our community keep hydrated and getting our Residents out supporting and meeting everyone. We shall be repeating this gesture every week while the weather is hot.”
