A team from a local care home has been taking part in a sponsored walk to help tackle dementia.
Seven colleagues and a resident from
HC-One’s Brandon House Care Home, Bell Green, Coventry, were joined by eight relatives to complete the annual Coventry Memory Walk at War Memorial Park on Sunday 24th September.
The event, organised by the Alzheimer’s Society, aimed to raise money to tackle dementia and to increase awareness of the condition that affects 944,000 people in the UK (according to NHS figures).
Simon Day, Wellbeing Coordinator at Brandon House care home, said:
“What an absolutely fabulous day, despite the rain it was lovely to see everyone in their blue t-shirts walking together to fight dementia.”
Sheryl Davis, Home Manager of Brandon House care home, said:
“We all very much enjoyed the memory walk, and it was especially nice to be joined by one of our residents plus a number of residents relatives.
Dementia is the UKs biggest killer and is obviously something that we have a lot of experience of at Brandon House. It was very inspiring to see so many people united in wanting to do something to tackle dementia and help the many thousands of people living with it at the current time.”
