Residents of a HC-One care home hosted a Harvest Festival event in support of Silver Sunday to help combat loneliness within the community and help to increase happiness and wellbeing.
Celebrating Silver Sunday provided an opportunity for elderly people living independently in the local community to meet new people, make new friends and have meaningful moments in the company of others.
Appleton Manor welcomed members of the local community as part of the Harvest Festival celebrations on Friday, October 5. The home welcomed 28 children from Little Fledgelings Nursery who sang Harvest songs for Residents.
The Reverand Andrew from Chelmswood Church held a special Harvest Festival Service and the home enjoyed performances from Mickey Mouse and the Brinnington Morris Dancers.

Harvest Festival is an annual celebration to mark the end of the main harvest season, and a time to give thanks for the crop that has been grown. Traditionally it is a time when people share collected food items with those in need in their local community.
Silver Sunday is an annual day of fun and free activities for older people across the UK. Led by The Sir Simon Milton Foundation, it celebrates the value and knowledge they contribute to our communities while combating loneliness and isolation.
Appleton Manor encourage everyone to feel part of things both within the home and the wider community. Harvest Festival and Silver Sunday are examples of activities that suits Resident’s hobbies and interests.
