
Residents at HC-One’s Hebburn Court, near Newcastle recently donated their Harvest Festival collections to the local community food bank.
During the coronavirus pandemic, up and down the country, communities really pulled together to help out care homes when they needed it most. Residents from Hebburn Court care home thought it would be a good idea to give back to the local community that helped them so much over these past few months, so they decided to gift them their Harvest Festival donations.
A harvest festival is an annual celebration that occurs around the time of the main harvest of a given region. Celebrations on this day usually include singing hymns, praying, and decorating churches with baskets of fruit and food in the festival known as Harvest Festival.
Hebburn Court work closely with Hebburn Helps and often deliver parcels to help the community. Keeping these close links with community is key for the home, with donations coming in from all over Hebburn.
Hebburn Court Home Administrator, Kirsty Rutter said: "This lovely lady is Sandra who used to volunteer for Hebburn Helps, she popped along today with a wonderful Hamper."
