HC-One’s very own hero comes to the rescueOn Tuesday 13th November HC-One’s Maintenance Operative Alan Wilson noticed smoke coming from the front of Northview Lodge Care Home in Castletown, Tyne and Wear.

Upon investigation, he found that the smoke was actually coming from a house across the road from Northview Lodge.

Alan alerted the Fire Brigade straight away and the occupants of the house. Mrs Jasper and a young child were then evacuated from the property safely.

Not finished in his heroic act, Alan then bravely ran to Northview Lodge for two fire extinguishers which he then used to keep the fire at bay until the Fire Brigade arrived to put out the fire.

The team from Northview Lodge reassured Mrs Jasper and the child and brought them blankets to keep them warm. The next day, Mrs Jasper visited the home with a thank you car and a gift for Alan.

Alan’s Colleagues were so impressed with his actions that they also presented him with a bottle of his favourite single malt whiskey.

Resident Hannah Mathews commented:

“He’s a hero!”

Mrs Jasper commented:

“Thank you so, so much!”
