Hayes care home introduces ‘Stop the Clock’ wellbeing initiative Inspired by fellow HC-One care homes, Aston House in Hayes has introduced ‘Stop the Clock’ to improve the wellbeing of Residents.

The Stop the Clock idea was introduced to a selection of HC-One care homes as part of a new wellbeing initiative, after hearing of the success of the daily activity at other homes, Aston House decided to implement the same idea.

At 3 pm on weekdays and 11 am on weekends, members of the team are free to spend quality time with Residents, whether it’s just a nice conversation or taking part in an activity together, the aim is to help Residents build close relationships with the team.

The first Stop the Clock session at Aston House was a big success, Joseph, a Care Assistant spent his time talking with Helen, who told him about her childhood growing up in Buckingham Palace with her Father, who was a groundkeeper. Home Manager Seema spent her time watching Richard show off his superb skittle talents.

Aston House Home Manager, Seema Jose said: “What an amazing idea, it was heart-warming to see everyone spending quality time together.

“For members of the team that aren’t directly providing care it can be hard of them to find time to spend with Residents, this gives everyone the opportunity to build close bonds and ultimately, provide a higher level of individualised care and support.”
